Looks like Bollywood is soon going to have another detective in Feluda, Soojit Sircar, the director of ‘Piku’ is trying his best to get the copyright of Feluda stories. Sircar, who is also the creative producer of Big B’s upcoming film ‘Pink’, It was released on 16 September 2016 expressed his wish of remaking Satyajit Ray’s mystery novel ‘Sonar Kella’ in Hindi.
The director was quoted as saying that he is planning to remake the famous Bengali detective Feluda movie ‘Sonar Kella’ which Ray made in the early seventies. The movie went on to win four national awards in 1975 including that of best director for Ray.
Shonar Kella is a 1971 mystery novel by Bengali writer and filmmaker Satyajit Ray. In 1974, Ray directed a film adaption of the book, also named Sonar Kella has been considered as a milestone for Bangla cinema, starring Soumitra Chatterjee, Santosh Dutta, Siddartha Chatterjee and Kushal Chakraborty. The movie was released in the United States as The Golden Fortress.
According to Shoojit, Since Feluda has all the trappings of a franchise formula, Shoojit feels that if the movie is made in Hindi, it can appeal to a national level audience.
However, Sircar is currently looking trying to get the copyright of the film. According to the filmmaker, his only desire is to make Feluda speak in Hindi! His Latest Film Pink grossed around an impressive 4.32 crore (US$640,000) on first day in India.
