A car bomb blast has hit Iraq’s capital Baghdad, the latest in a series of attacks targeting the city over the past few weeks. The explosion targeted a checkpoint in a Shia district in northern Baghdad. Eight people were killed and 20 others wounded after a bomber rammed his explosives-laden car into the checkpoint.
On Tuesday, the same district was hit by a bomb explosion that killed 25 people. And more than two weeks ago, nearly 300 were killed in two massive bomb blasts claimed by Daesh. The Takfiri group has mounted terror attacks over the past months, as it has lost ground in battles with the Iraqi army.
