Two C-17 aircraft have left for Juba on Thursday morning to evacuate 600 Indians struck in the war-torn South Sudan. Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh is leading the operation named ‘Sankatmochan’.
All preparations for Operation ‘Sankat Mochan’ are in place and Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs Gen VK Singh will lead the operations, reports indiatoday.
Two C17s will proceed to Juba early on Thursday morning. An advisory was put out by the Indian embassy in South Sudan advising all Indians to “get in touch with the Embassy of India in Juba to avail the special facility on July 14, 2016 and obtain details of arrival and departure.” The advisory also assured all citizens that additional flights will be pressed in service if required.
