Body building is serious business. Guys lift iron day in and day out all for the gains to make them look bigger, never getting satisfied of how huge they’ve become.
A Brazilian man almost had to have his arms amputated after injecting his muscles with a muscle enhancer called Synthol, a mixture of oil, alcohol, and painkillers, Barcroft TV reports to look like the Hulk. He was a clean body builder.
Romario Dos Santos Alves told Barcroft that his obsession with huge muscles began three years ago when he moved from his hometown of Caldas Novas to Goiânia. There, he says he started going to a local gym where he was first introduced to Synthol. Soon, he says he was hooked and injecting himself regularly.
“I was hospitalised in a clinic and my wife was six months pregnant — it was just me and her, no friends or family,” he says.
“I decided to fix my ways and I never again wanted to take any drugs. We went through a really hard time and almost starved.”
The filler was causing Romario constant pain, and he almost suffered kidney failure due to the toxins in the oil. He was at one point told by a doctor that his only course of action would be to have his arms amputated.
“My wife was crying when I left at 5am to go to the hospital for the procedure,” he says.
