Souvik Mitra, who directed Soumitra Chatterjee in Punascha, is all set to start filming his new movie, which revolves around Durga Puja. The story is set against the backdrop of Mittir family’s Durga Puja.
The puja started 100 years ago when the ancestors had invited Lord Curzon as the chief guest. A Bengali film is bringing back Lord Curzon in a fantasy tale on the silver screen. “My debut film was Punascha, which was a serious film about relationships. The idea of making a film revolving around Durga Puja came to me when I was having a conversation with my friend,” says the director. The film stars Shaheb Bhattacherjee, Poulami Das, Lily Chakraborty, Kharaj Mukherjee, Kanchan Mullick and others.
