After the huge success of 2013 Indian adventure drama film ‘Chander Pahar’, director Kamaleswar Mukherjee and Tollywood superstar Dev are coming together for its sequel which has been titled as ‘Amazon Obhijaan’.
Tolly superstar Dev is shooting for Kamaleswar Mukherjee’s Amazon Obhijaan in the jungles of Amazon in Brazil. He will be seen reprising the role of Shankar and this time his quest will be for the mythical El Dorado, the land of gold.
Chander Pahar by Bengali novelist Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, directed by Kamaleshwar Mukherjee and features Bengali actor Dev in the lead role as Shankar. This is the first collaboration between Dev and Mukherjee, the latter having made only two films before: Uro Chithi and Meghe Dhaka Tara.
This sequel of ‘Chander Pahar’ will be shot extensively across Brazil, and underwater in two rivers, Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes. He faced intense challenges in the most dreaded place on Earth, dedicated actor completed his schedule without any scratch or tantrums and will shoot in the deep Amazon jungle. There will be extensive underwater shots which have never been seen before in any Bengali film.
The director, who is currently in Mumbai for last-minute recce, said, “The shoot will begin with the filming of an underwater sequence, which is quite dangerous, but I am sure we can do it. Though the sequence has a screen time of two-and-a-half minutes, we have to shoot for three days to get the perfect scene.” The unit will be leaving for Brazil in the first week of June, where they would shoot the rest of the film.
