Jisshu Sengupta, known as Jisshu, is an Indian actor and television presenter popular in Bengali film industry. Though his real name is Biswaroop Sengupta, he is more famous as Jisshu, his pet name. He made his debut with the mega serial, Mahaprabhu as the main lead character, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
He became a popular figure in contemporary Bengali television as he directed television serials like Aparajita, Tomay Amay Mile and reality show Shonge Srijit. He has recently (June 2011) made a comeback on Bengali television, with the megaserial Aparajito, which is being produced by his own company, Blue Water pictures, and is possibly the very first serial based on a male protagonist.
Jishu Sengupta is married to Nilanjana Sharma in the year 2004. She is the elder daughter of a Bengali film actress Anjana Bhowmick. The duo, who first met while shooting for the telefilm Basundhara way back in September 2002, are getting engaged at a cozy ceremony at Nelanjana’s house, held in the traditional Bengali way.
”It was on my birthday on February 21 this year when Jishu gave me a surprise visit. He wasn’t supposed to be in town that day, but he came over with flowers. That day, he made me feel so special. I liked it more when he went and asked my mom for my hand,” Nelanjana gushed.
Nilanjana has made her Bengali debut with the film Swapner Feriwala. The couple are blessed with two daughters named Sara Sengupta and Zara Sengupta.
