A mother has given birth to a baby girl weighing a whopping 15lbs – the heaviest girl ever born in the world. Well, it is the world record Carisa Rusack from Massachusetts held until Nandini gave birth to her child.
Nandini, 19, who goes only by her first name, welcomed her first child, a daughter, the baby was delivered by caesarean section after a half-an-hour surgery in a government hospital in Hassan in Karnataka, in India.
This baby overtakes the current record holder, Carisa Rusack, who was born weighing 6.4 kgs in 2014 in Massachusetts.
Dr Venkatesh Raju, the local health officer, said: “In my 25 years of experience, I had never seen such a big baby. She is a miracle. I believe she is not only the heaviest baby born in India but the heaviest baby girl ever born in the world.”
The unnamed child weighed almost 15 pounds when born.
The baby weighed almost twice the size of average babies.
The yet-to-be named baby left everyone including her mother and medics in shock due her sheer size. Nandini, who herself weighs 94 kg and stands 5’9 tall, had a smooth pregnancy throughout but was unaware she was about to give birth to a big baby.
